Our dedicated Industry Liaison Officer works to ensure you have access to relevant industry placements.
In the past students have worked with local salons and spa’s to community groups, such as setting up face paint for community events.
All this is alongside work with real clients in our onsite Salon Academy.
By studying with us, you’ll take part in regular social action projects, as part of the College pledge to serve the local community.
These activities can include fundraising, providing makeup looks for local performances and providing free beauty treatments to the elderly.

Learning doesn’t just happen on-site, as you can take part in masterclasses with brands such as L’Oréal, MAC, and the Great British Barber Bash.
Previous students were fortunate enough to learn from Kyrolan during a trip to their headquarters in London’s Covent Garden.
Throughout their course, all our Hair and Beauty students get the chance to take part in competitions, such as KFE4Skills.
These give you the chance to show off your talents and expertise in front of industry professionals, judges and fellow students.
The Yarrow, our on-site hotel, gives you the opportunity to work alongside highly skilled professional staff, while receiving technical training.
Thanks to her work placement there, Level 3 Beauty student, Sophie, was offered a weekend job, which evolved into becoming a full-time Beauty Therapist.
You’ll train in our dedicated salon, working with professional equipment on paying clients.
This training builds your confidence and skills ready for you to thrive in the industry, and stand out from the crowd.
You’ll also rotate through key roles including Stylist, Receptionist, and Salon Manager.
Our salon is open for appointments throughout the academic year, with all services delivered under the expert supervision of qualified industry professionals.

We welcomed 38 students from across East Kent Colleges Group, to compete in four exciting Hairdressing categories.
These were First-Year Blow Dry, Cut and Blow Dry, Ladies’ Hair-Up Bridal, and Ladies’ Hair-Up Era.
We hosted L’Oréal Paris for an interactive showcase with students across East Kent Colleges Group.
The event was designed to inspire students about future careers in the hairdressing industry.
