EKC Broadstairs College offers a wide range of state-of-the-art facilities for students to enhance their learning experience.

All of our facilities are available for students and staff to access during their time with us.

The Salon

The Broadstairs Salon Academy is our commercial salon at EKC Broadstairs College that is high-street-quality.

Run by staff and students, the salon supports our students’ learning experiences by allowing them to offer the general public competitively priced hair, beauty and nail treatments under the supervision of our professionally qualified staff.

Students can access a variety of treatments at reduced rates, as well as the chance to be models for our Hair and Beauty students during assessments.

The Yarrow Hotel

The Yarrow Hotel is situated in the grounds of EKC Broadstairs College and gives students the unique opportunity to gain an understanding of how to work in a commercial setting with paying customers.

This boutique hotel offers accommodation, a relaxed bar area and fine dining. It can cater for events such as corporate meetings or weddings. There is also an on-site spa and salon.

Computer and Gaming Lab

Our Computer and Gaming lab features top-of-the-range facilities, including:

  • Virtual Reality (VR) technologies
  • 3D printers
  • robotics

Students can learn about the latest technologies and develop their skills in a modern interactive learning environment that enables them to gain the experience and knowledge to excel in their studies and future career.

Sports Hall

Our spacious Sports Hall is used by our Sports students for practical training sessions.

There are often opportunities to practice coaching their colleagues through activities and sports drills to develop their confidence, teamworking skills, knowledge of new sports and physical fitness.

Students can practice a range of sports including football, basketball, badminton and table tennis.

Michael Wright Lecture Theatre

The Michael Wright Lecture Theatre features a stage and tiered seating. The amphitheatre is used for student talks, guest speakers and events. It can also be hired for meetings, conferences and training days.

Our Music students are given the opportunity to take part in live events throughout the year and perform on stage in the theatre to gain valuable experience and showcase their talent.

Centre for Environmental Technology

Our Engineering, Manufacturing and Automotive students study in our Centre for Environmental Technology, The Future Building. This £6.5m building is our renewable technologies centre.

With solar panels and visible plumbing systems, the building is used as a teaching tool to demonstrate cutting-edge design, construction and engineering techniques.

The Centre contains the latest equipment for students of electronic and mechanical engineering.

The Hub

The Hub is a safe space for students with autism, anxiety difficulties, or those experiencing social interaction difficulties.

Students can access The Hub during lunch and break times, or if they become overwhelmed during lessons.

Staff are on hand to assist and support students to take part in individual and group activities, continue with their learning and ultimately support students to transition out to other social spaces as and when they are ready.

Nurture Forest School

Our Nurture Forest School hosts provision created to provide students who often struggle in a mainstream classroom, a safe environment connected to natureStudents are given the space to get ‘hands on’ and immersed in nature.

Previous projects that students have completed in this space include building a wildlife pond, planted trees, upcycled pallets and building a large composting area.

Junior College

EKC Broadstairs Junior College offers an exciting hands-on curriculum for those aged 14-16 specialising in Catering and Hospitality, or Sport.

The Junior College has its own designated area within the campus, providing a sense of community while encouraging students to adapt to a more mature learning environment.

Students choose a specialist programme in either Catering or Sport, and will learn their specialism in the appropriate facility.

Refectory

The Refectory offers a fantastic selection of hot and cold food that is great value for money.

Choose from a variety of healthy meals prepared by our Catering students or grab a sandwich, salad, or jacket potato.

Inspire Coffee Shop

Our Inspire Coffee Shop is open to students and staff, serving food and hot and cold drinks including a selection of pastries, panini’s and specialist coffees.

Our Catering, Hospitality and Inclusive Learning students gain valuable work experience in the Coffee Shop, serving and cooking for our student community.
